Budget day: 80–150 PLN
Supermarket breakfast, milk-bar or takeaway meals, public transport and inexpensive or free sightseeing. Accommodation not included.
Poland is still good value compared with many Western European destinations — but do not arrive expecting everything to be ridiculously cheap.
SHORT ANSWER
For many international visitors, Poland still feels cheaper than major cities in Western or Northern Europe. The biggest variables are where you stay, when you travel and how close you eat to the main tourist square.
REALISTIC 2026 PLANNING PRICES
These are broad planning ranges, not fixed national prices. Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, Sopot, Zakopane and peak summer dates can all be more expensive.
HOW MUCH PER DAY?
The easiest way to plan is to keep accommodation separate, because room prices vary far more than food or public transport.
Supermarket breakfast, milk-bar or takeaway meals, public transport and inexpensive or free sightseeing. Accommodation not included.
Cafés, one or two restaurant meals, city transport, a paid attraction and some flexibility. Accommodation not included.
For everyday spending, roughly 240–450 PLN per person can work for a careful three-day trip, while 450–750 PLN gives you much more freedom with restaurants, cafés and attractions. Then add your hotel and any intercity trains separately.
Restaurant menus, hotel rates and ride-hailing prices change. These figures are deliberately broad so they are useful for planning rather than pretending every Polish city costs the same.
WHERE YOU SAVE — AND WHERE YOU DON'T
Traditional cafeteria-style places can be much cheaper than restaurants around the main square.
Trams and buses are usually excellent value. A short or standard city ticket is commonly only a few złoty.
Biedronka, Lidl, Auchan and other supermarkets make breakfast, snacks and drinks much cheaper than convenience stores.
Old Town walks, parks, beaches and neighbourhood wandering can fill a large part of a day without an entrance fee.
A restaurant with the best view of a famous square is usually not where you find the best-value meal.
Sopot and popular seaside resorts can become substantially more expensive in July and August.
Zakopane and ski destinations can jump in price during holidays and winter weekends.
Paying in your home currency on a terminal can cost more. When appropriate, choose PLN and let your own card provider handle conversion.
