For most sightseeing in Gdańsk, use ZTM trams and buses. Here are the current ticket prices, how to pay and validate, and when you need a separate SKM or PKM train ticket.

For most Gdańsk sightseeing, use ZTM trams and buses: 4.80 zł one ride, 6 zł with transfers.
A 4.80 zł ticket covers one bus or tram ride. A 6.00 zł 75-minute ticket lets you transfer between ZTM buses and trams. For a sightseeing day, the 22 zł 24-hour ticket can be simpler. SKM/PKM trains use different ticket rules.

SKM is the fast urban railway through the Tricity. It is often the easiest way to reach Sopot or Gdynia, but standard city-bus tickets do not automatically work like ordinary SKM tickets.

The PKM railway line serves Gdańsk Airport. Passenger trains on the PKM line are operated by POLREGIO.

For a normal tram ride in Gdańsk, buy a ZTM ticket. The same city-ticket rules apply to ZTM trams and buses. A one-ride ticket costs 4.80 zł; use the 75-minute ticket if you need to change between ZTM vehicles.

FALA tickets in Gdańsk: what is FALA?
FALA is the regional ticket system used across Gdańsk and other parts of Pomerania. You can use the FALA app, or use FALA devices with a payment card in supported situations. The system also covers regional rail services including SKM and POLREGIO.
2026 update: FALA now carries the full range of short-, medium- and long-term tickets in the system. Since 1 July 2026, monthly metropolitan tickets are sold through FALA rather than the previous commercial-app route.

Choose your journey or ticket
The FALA app can sell ZTM tickets and can also be used for regional public transport.

Use the same payment method consistently
If you use a FALA reader with a payment card, keep that same card available for inspection.

Do not blindly tap the same card twice
On a FALA reader, a second tap of the same card can end the previously purchased journey rather than buy another ticket.
Tourist shortcut: if you simply want to buy a normal Gdańsk bus/tram ticket in your phone, FALA is one option. ZTM also lists other mobile apps for single tickets.
PAPER TICKETS
Do I need to validate a paper ticket?
Yes. For current paper tickets with a QR code, ZTM instructs passengers to scan the ticket after entering the vehicle using a FALA device. The QR scanner is on the device; hold the ticket roughly 10–15 cm from it.
Buying the ticket is not the final step.
If you buy a paper ticket before boarding, remember to scan/validate it after you enter the bus or tram.
SKM & PKM
SKM tickets in Gdańsk: the mistake visitors should avoid
If your journey is on an SKM train, buy a rail ticket for that SKM journey unless you deliberately choose an integrated/metropolitan product that covers both modes. SKM sells tickets through ticket offices, machines, mobile apps and online channels.
DON'T ASSUME
Your ordinary 4.80 zł ZTM bus/tram ticket is not simply a universal ticket for SKM and PKM trains.
Railway services have their own fares and integrated products. There are special arrangements — for example certain Gdańsk resident-period tickets can be valid on SKM and PKM/POLREGIO within Gdańsk — but that is not the same thing as a tourist buying a normal city single ticket.
For a tourist, keep it simple:
Gdańsk → Sopot / Gdynia
Buy a train ticket for your actual SKM journey.
Airport → Wrzeszcz
Buy a rail ticket for the PKM/POLREGIO journey, or use a compatible regional ticket through FALA.
Need buses + trains
Look for an appropriate integrated/metropolitan product instead of assuming one ordinary ticket covers everything.
