SHORT ANSWER

From outside the EU: 1 L of strong spirits OR 2 L of alcohol up to 22%, plus 4 L of still wine and 16 L of beer.

These duty/tax-free allowances apply to travellers aged 17 or over and are for non-commercial personal imports.

1 Lspirits over 22%OR
2 Lalcohol up to 22%OR proportional mix
4 Lstill winePLUS
16 LbeerPLUS
Example: you can bring 0.5 L of vodka + 1 L of liqueur up to 22%, and still also have the separate allowance for 4 L of still wine and 16 L of beer.

PLANE VS CAR

For alcohol, the basic non-EU allowance is the same.

Unlike tobacco and the general value allowance for other goods, the standard alcohol quantities above do not become lower just because you enter by land rather than by air.

🇪🇺

Coming from another EU country

There is no simple “duty-free limit” for genuine personal use.

Taxes were already paid in the country of purchase. Polish/EU authorities use quantities and circumstances to judge whether it is really for personal use.

  • 10 L spirits
  • 20 L intermediate products
  • 90 L wine/fermented drinks, max 60 L sparkling
  • 110 L beer

These are guideline quantities used to assess commercial intent, not a tourist shopping target.

🌎

Coming from USA / Great Britain / outside the EU

Specific duty-free allowances apply.

1 L strong spirits OR 2 L lower-strength alcohol, plus 4 L still wine and 16 L beer.

🚗
Driving from the UK is not the same as “crossing the Polish customs border”.

You enter the EU customs territory at your first EU entry point. If you continue through EU countries to Poland, you do not wait until Poland to deal with non-EU customs rules.

FAQ

Alcohol at the Polish/EU border

How much vodka can I bring from the USA to Poland?

Up to 1 litre of spirits over 22% can be within the standard duty/tax-free allowance for a traveller aged 17 or over, assuming the import is non-commercial.

Can I also bring wine and beer?

Yes. The standard non-EU allowance separately includes 4 litres of still wine and 16 litres of beer.

Is the alcohol allowance lower if I arrive by car?

The standard alcohol quantities are not lower for land travel. Transport mode does affect some other limits, especially tobacco and the general value allowance for other goods.
